Hi I’m Mark

a professional creature animator with over twenty years of experience working across film, games, and education.

I’ve spent my career bringing characters and creatures to life focusing on believable movement, performance, and detail.

My industry experience includes work on projects such as Primitive War (Sparke Films), as well as titles like Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts, Total Overdose, and Medal of Honour: Rising Sun. I’ve worked across both large studios and smaller teams, contributing to gameplay animation, cinematics, and performance-driven work.

I specialise in creature animation, with a strong focus on realism—understanding how weight, balance, and anatomy translate into convincing movement. My primary tool is Autodesk Maya, and I also work confidently in Blender, adapting to different workflows and production pipelines.

Alongside my industry career, I spent over six years teaching at university level, including at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. This gave me a clear understanding of how animation is taught academically—and where students can sometimes feel uncertain or unsupported.

Coming from an industry background, I’ve always focused on practical, real-world approaches to animation. That perspective allowed me to help students bridge the gap between academic expectations and the skills actually needed to improve their work and move forward.

Because of this, I understand first-hand what students are going through—whether it’s unclear feedback, mixed expectations, or simply not knowing how to push their work to the next level.

Creature animator

Working with VFX lead “Laurent Benhamo” I animated numerous shots for the show containing various herbivores and Deinonychus. (currently under n.d.a.)

Character animator

Working as part of a three man, team animation responsibilities included designing and creating performances, then incorporating the animation into a cutscene, also in game animation.

Total overdose chilli con carnage In game character design, animation and cinematic cutscenes were created for a AAA title called "Total Overdose" Implementation was achieved utilising the unreal game engine.

Animation duties included in game environmental animation for a the “Medal of Honour Series” from E.A. Platform Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Titled Game: Medal of honour (Rising Sun)
